# TC7 Conservation and Output-Health Checks

Mass is preserved to roundoff (max |rel| 1.782e-16). The mechanical-energy proxy is not preserved (max |rel| 0.0114949). Derived potential enstrophy is unavailable (max |rel| n/a).

These diagnostics use the current MITgcm MDS outputs only. Mass and free-surface drift come from `Eta/ETAN`; energy uses `momKE` when present, otherwise centered `U/V`; PV and potential enstrophy are derived from `U/V/Eta` because no run currently writes a native vorticity or PV diagnostic.

## Note

TC7 has three completed filtered analyzed-state runs at 0000 GMT 21 Dec 1978, 16 Jan 1979, and 9 Jan 1979. The saved MITgcm state fields are finite through day 5, and conservation diagnostics are available as validation assets. The current conservation script does not compute cubed-sphere PV/enstrophy without a native vorticity or PV diagnostic, so that column remains unavailable for TC7.
